It is no surprise that Yahoo is trying even harder to beat out Google these days. With Google’s semi-recent launch of Google Buzz, Yahoo is feeling the pressure to keep up. An agreement was signed and announced last December, but it wasn’t until today that it became official. Yahoo and Facebook have joined forces, allowing users to link the two networks in order for people to share and receive information through either site.
Yahoo Profiles is out, Pulse is in: As a result of this new collaboration, Yahoo has revamped their site Yahoo Profiles. Yahoo Profiles lets people identify themselves and socialize through the web. This site is being renamed Yahoo Pulse and will include specific privacy settings, as well as a central dashboard. These privacy settings are something Google still needs to work on with Buzz, giving Yahoo an advantage in the game.
Ability to import e-mail addresses: One feature as a result of the Yahoo/Facebook partnership is users have the ability to access and then import e-mail addresses from Facebook into their Yahoo accounts
Easy new login system: Users can also log into Facebook via Yahoo. According to Yahoo’s Blog, “you can see your Facebook News Feed from your Yahoo! Homepage, Yahoo! Mail, and other favorite Yahoo! sites and services.”

The real question is how long will it take Yahoo to beat out Google for its loyal followers? Even though I am specifically investigating this topic, I still used Google throughout the entire process. I personally don’t believe something like Yahoo collaborating with Facebook is going to influence me to start using Yahoo exclusively.
